Ukrainian politician-businessman Igor Kononenko (also known as Ihor Vitaliiovych Kononenko) has made his mark in both the political and corporate world. In the business world he has had various key executive roles in commerce, investment and transport industries among others.
Kononenko’s political career began during his student days when he was Komsomol KAHI’s secretary in 1988 to 1990 and from there he became deputy director of the student brigade’s city headquarters’ structural unit until 1991.
Other roles he has held include: deputy of the Kiev City Council deputy of the 5th and 6th Leonid Chernoveskyi Block convocations (until 2014); deputy chairman of the Standing Committee on Transport and Communications; Number 11 on the UDAR electoral list (2014) and People’s Deputy on the Petro Poroshenko Bloc list. He was also a member of the Committee on the Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Security Committee and the Inter-Parliamentary group on relations with Austria.
